Walking and hiking opportunities abound in the diverse public properties within the GHA. Hiking the steep, post-glacial terrain of the Kettle Moraine to the wide, open and flat marshlands of Jefferson Marsh, the GHA has plenty of places to explore. In addition, the region holds portions of the famous Ice Age Trail that traverses much of Wisconsin.

  • Ice Age Trail: Two sections of the thousand-mile trail fall in the GHA near Palmyra and Milton in the southern portion of the GHA. See the Ice Age Trail Alliance’s interactive map for details on the trail and which sections are marked and open for use.
